Discover what it means to be an active citizen by casting your ballot at Brooklyn Children’s Museum Election Day at BCM features a competitive race between two fierce taxidermy objects from their Collection (candidate Koala Bear vs. candidate Seal Pup). Children will explore the concepts of citizenship, democracy and self-expression demonstrated through voting!

Casting your Ballot
11am – 4pm
Whose side are you on? Children will cast their vote for one of our taxidermy collection objects: candidate Koala Bear vs candidate Seal Pup. Voting will take place throughout the day, with an announcement at 4:15 to announce the winner of the election. At every hour we will be tallying the vote and announcing “exit poll” results. 

“I Voted” Button Making!
 11am – 4pm
Kids can mark their act of voting by customizing their own “I Voted” button in this art making activity!

Sylvia’s Story Corner: Storytime at BCM
1:00 – 1:30pm & 1:30 – 2:00pm
Join a BCM educator for this interactive storytime focusing on democracy and what it means to be an active citizen.

Protest Poster Making Workshop
2pm – 4pm
Make your own protest poster in this art activity!

Step Up to the Podium: Selfie Edition
11am – 4pm
Practice stepping up to the podium to speak your mind and take a photo while you're at it with the BCM mini speech and stage set-up!
