The Corning Museum of Glass' GlassBarge floats into Brooklyn Bridge Park -- its first stop on a voyage up the Hudson -- to demonstrate the magic and art of glassmaking. The barge is accompanied by a flotilla of historic vessels from the South Street Seaport Museum and The Lake Champlain Maritime Museum and, following the 30-minute glassblowing demonstrations by the Corning Museum of Glass, visitors are also invited aboard the Lois McClure, a historic schooner from the collection of the Maritime Museum, to learn about what life was like on board a canal barge in the 19th century.
Tours are first come, first served and do not require registration. The South Street Seaport Museum is on hand as well, to talk about the historic tug that will be moving GlassBarge along the waterways.
GlassBarge provides daily demonstrations from 11am to 6pm. All demos are approximately 30 minutes long, and reservations are strongly encouraged through free timed tickets. Registration will be live four to six weeks prior to each stop. Demos can also be viewed from shore without a reservation.
