Live at the Archway: Espiritu Gitano Ensemble

THE BAND:<br />
The Espiritu Gitano Ensemble, featuring a collective of musicians, singers and dancers, reveals the beauty and boldness of flamenco, bringing together various influences, ranging from the traditions of India and the Middle East, to those of the Moors, Jews and gypsies of Andalusia. The ensemble is directed by guitarist and composer Arturo Martinez, who has accompanied artists including Jose Molina, Jose Greco, Chuni Amaya, Joaquin Fajardo, Concha Vargas, as well as Maria Alba, Pilar Rioja and Andrea Del Conte.<br />

THE ARTIST:<br />
Eleanor Kupencow’s paintings, intrinsically related to her sculpture in color, form, theme and scale, feature the common elements of joy and movement. Kupencow’s sculptures, “Horsing Around the Arrows of Time,” were first installed at Dag Hammerskjold Plaza (2008-2009), and then at The Pearl Street Triangle in Dumbo, Brooklyn (2009-2010), and are now permanently installed at The Children’s Museum of the East End, in Bridgehampton, NY (2014). Other Kupencow sculptures can be viewed at the LongHouse Preserve gardens in East Hampton, The Romany Kramoris Gallery, in Sag Harbor, NY, and The White Room Gallery, in Bridgehampton, NY. Six of her “Fun Seetz” (sculptures for sitting, reclining and climbing) are permanently installed at a pedestrian plaza on Old Fulton Street in Dumbo, Brooklyn.<br />

THE GALLERY:<br />
The Space Station, by This Friday or Next Friday, premieres at this year’s Live at the Archway. Tfnf is likely the tiniest, most inconsequential art gallery in DUMBO, Brooklyn, probably in NYC, and maybe on the face of the earth. It was founded by Nathan Sinai Rayman, and he runs it with Zach Seeger, his Director of Programs.<br />
