Intermediate Manga + Anime: Character, Anatomy

This class is ideal for teens who have completed the Beginner Anime & Manga Art Class or for more experienced teen artists already familiar with the Manga Anime traditions. Students will study in detail the human body or animal forms & anatomy in movement with skill and precision as they explore expression & character.

Students will explore facial proportions (skin, hair, eye design), anatomy (torsos, hands, legs, feet), and how to employ costume design. They will then be introduced to a color palette allowing them to bring their drawings to life. Teens will practice drawing & outline techniques, and explore dramatic backgrounds and scenes for characters to live in. They will learn how to get the most out of micro pen techniques & applications for special effects to place characters within dynamic scenes to make them pop off the page or place them in a digital dreamscape. Students will be introduced to the techniques of storyboarding, incorporating narrative based on panel-to-panel storytelling.

Returning students will be facilitated for & techniques polished. More experienced artists may also choose to work digitally on their own tablets if preferred.

Fee includes all art supplies. Prior registration is required. All students must sign a Class Waiver & Liability Form prior to arrival. Limited availability & safety restrictions apply.

Class is offered as single day drop-ins or sign up for multi-week full courses by selecting the start date from the registration calendar below.
